The diamond formation is an alternative for traveling that is quite unique. When properly done, it looks good. It is used for traveling only, as it is not an appropriate static formation. Static formations are fully explained in service drill and ceremonies manuals. Is it authorized?

A few of the readers out there always want an official text in black and white that says you can't do this or that. "Show me where it say XYZ" is always good, but when I show you and the text doesn't say exactly what you want, you scream at me. We don't have published standards that gave hundreds of pages of how not to display the flag as that would be an endless list added to every single day. Right, I used a black Sharpie to see the difference. What about a white sling? I like these experiments to see what works best - after letting equipment go. Thanks for the help do far. After any length of time this will happen to you. After any length of time this will happen to you. The sling clasp and keeper will cause rust on the sling. The only way I know of to prevent this is to remove the sling from the rifle and lay it out in a cool, dry place when storing the rifles (over the summer break, for instance). So, I have two questions (I'm writing a big article about maintaining equipment): 1️⃣How can this be prevented? Is my suggestion above the only way? 2️⃣How does someone treat the sling once it's stained? ⚠️Do NOT use bleach! That will ruin the material. What other options are there? I really like posing questions like this because the smartest people give the great answers that I can add to my article to share with everyone else. Swivel removal, wood putty, reattachment. We have Swivel removal, wood putty, reattachment. We have furniture markers in three different shades of brown. I used the darkest and it worked well. The markers are very different from the brown Sharpie I used. The sharpie did not work well on the putty but the marker did. You have to be careful when attaching the swivel. I've received a message like this several times. I've received a message like this several times. Over the years, three Sailors have contacted me after leaving the @usnceremonialguard in Washington DC lamenting how they were fired up for continuing to serve on an as-needed basis and volunteering to teach from MCO 5060.20 and not the ceremonial drill they knew. Their fire was consistently put out by an ego-driven Petty Officer or Chief telling them "that's not the way we do it here" or, one of my favorites, "MCO 5060.20 is for the Marine Corps" - which is why that order needs to be renumbered and retitled to be a Department of the Navy Order that states it applies to the sea services, but I've already written about that. We are failing our military. We are focused on ridiculous social "training" and leaving standards behind. We aren't clearly communicating in many areas. At least with the creation of the Space Force, the USAF went back to its manuals and reworded all kinds of statements to ensure that the every Airman and Guardian knows this manual applies to you both. Time for the DoN to do the same. Actually, it's decades past that time. How is this one brand new Soldier going to change things? It's going to be a very bumpy ride. His fire will likely be put out with a sledgehammer unless a decent NCO sees the ability in him to rise to the challenge. I hope that happens. Volunteer and seek opportunities to serve on the color guard or even the traveling funeral teams. Start small and be patient while I scream at the top of my social media lungs that we need to get back to the standards we once knew. In a platoon or flight formation, or larger, having a specific fall-out technique can be a motivational tool that can work well! Couple the step back with a chant and it works. When it comes to colors, no. The color guard is specifically forbidden from executing About Face and (To the) Rear March. That's because it puts the national in the inferior position but it doesn't matter if the flagstaffs are in your hands or not (I.e. just posted), you still cannot perform these two moves - because there is no differentiation between pre and post posting the colors. The team is always to remain in the correct order in Line and Column Formations. To fall-out, you just walk away from your position. That's it. Nothing special is required for any formation. This is such an incredible moment as we get ready to debut the first SFCC cadet color guard for the Space Conference in Orlando, launching the first squadron of the SFCC with at leat a dozen other squadrons waiting to take off as well! This is a GREAT attempt at presenting the colors o This is a GREAT attempt at presenting the colors on an ice rink "T". This can be tricky so let's go over it. Entrance was too slow and lead guard slowed down. You then change tempo at the Mark Time. Colors presentations are good at about 90-100 beats/steps per minute. That's not to fast or slow. ℹ️While I appreciate the Colors Turn-on, it only works when every team member marches straight to their positionfrom the (viewer's) right of the presentation spot. This set up doesn't work for the Colors Turn at all. The whole point is to avoid what the state bearer and trail guard did - turning over 90 degrees to the right only to have to turn 90 degrees to the left. So, what's the best approach? Marching straight up the leg of the T into position at the top without turning. It's similar to breaking from Column Formation to Line in any other instance. Lead guard marches up and steps to the edge of the carpet so that the team is as far forward as possible (allows trail guard room to get in) and have the team as far to the left of the carpet as possible (allows for a better exit). The step over keeps the shoulders and hips facing forward, the body does not fave the direction of movement. The US bearer steps slightly to the right, the state (should be your JROTC org color) steps slightly to the left, and the trail guard steps more to the left. As each team member steps into place, they pick up Mark Time and adjust their distance and alignment for about 4 steps after Trail is in place. Commander gives Color Guard, HALT (the AF/SF command) and the team halts. You attempted to execute the ceremonial halt, but didn't quite do it: HALT is called as the left toe strikes the marching surface. That foot remains in place. The right foot is then brought down about 4" to 6" to the right and in line with the left foot. That foot remains in place. For the next count, the left foot slides into the right. Now, my question is how did you get out since lead guard was buried on the right of the carpet? Here's how: First, go to Port from Present and your exit will be a bit easier. More 👇

Army, Air Force, and Space Force, place the lower ferrule into the socket while pulling the socket up to level. Marine Corps, Navy, and Coast Guard, place the lower ferrule into the space between the thumb and forefinger, let the ferrule slide down so that the end of the ferrule is just over the opening at the bottom of the socket/cup. Never push a flagstaff forward at Parade Rest (like these cadets did years ago), but if you don't have the ceiling height for Carry or Port/Trail, this is an acceptable method of Present for everyone. Trousers are the standard. The team is to look the same as much as possible. Heels also are not authorized. Low quarters only. ❌That skirt is MUCH too short! The hem must fall at the kneecap area, not mid-thigh. ❌If you are going to follow Army standards, which AFJROTC can, unfortunately, then not only are the guards to be at Right Shoulder, the bearers must hold the staff at the socket. ❌Are you marching with suspended a swing? Stars in other countries are worn similarly like the pips (circles) of Army JROTC. Three pips/stars = an Army Captain. Wreath laying by foreign dignitaries is a big thing in many countries.
