The @sultanofoman laying a wreath in Ankara, Turkey. Notice the wreath bearers are officers. Stars in other countries are worn similarly like the pips (circles) of Army JROTC. Three pips/stars = an Army Captain.

Wreath laying by foreign dignitaries is a big thing in many countries. I wonder where it began and how it evolved into what we see today.

How can you tell that a team has not read about th

How can you tell that a team has not read about their responsibilities in TC 3-21.5 and just relied on word-of-mouth training from each other or from someone outside the team who thinks he knows what he's doing? You pay attention to the details.

Sometimes I team knows close to nothing of their responsibilities and other times team members know a little bit to get by. This team knows a bit.

Left at the socket, not randomly on the staff. ❌Harness sockets for state and org bearers have no business being at or below crotch level. Those are clarino harnesses and have the buckle system. Add holes for the buckle. ❌Left/trail rifle guard, you're going to want to have the sling side of the rifle on your shoulder, not pointing up. ❌Guards flaring both hands forward at Present. All fingers wrap.

Our second colors training session and we finished

Our second colors training session and we finished modified rifle manual, Colors Turn-on and off! We might Tuesday is flagstaff manual and I want to get to Right Shoulder thanks to the quick progress we've made. The first color guard of the first squadron of the @ussf.cc is well in hand! Uniform adjustments this week as well as training, plus learning how to set up the uniform.

Now, if the bug that's going through the school would finish, we could continue with training everyone - I'm tired of catching a cadet before he or she collapses. Two so far!

Today was full of constant adjustments and 4 hours later the adjustments were fewer!

⭐Plus, the squadron leader's daughter made us all friendship bracelets in the @spaceforcedod officialish colors!

The most efficient and safest way to carry the cer

The most efficient and safest way to carry the ceremonial fire axe. This is the axe version of Carry Arms (next image). The Carry Arms I'm performing for the rifle is modified for the modern rifle using the small of the stock and not the trigger housing. For the axe, the hand rests slightly forward of the thigh to keep the handle vertical and balanced better.

Carry Arms comes (for Americans) from the Revolutionary War era.

Corrosion is going to happen. How can we prevent it from forming on the metal parts shown here on two of my training rifles? At this stage I need to sand and then paint, but how can someone with a new rifle eliminate corrosion from appearing? Is that even possible?

It's a common mistake. Don't stick your thumb in t

It's a common mistake. Don't stick your thumb in the colors harness socket. The staff lower ferrule rests on the marching surface, picks up dirt, and deposits that dirt on the inside of the unfinished surface of the socket. Your gloved thumb can look really bad instantly and that's not the look you want.

The index finger is to form a "cinnamon swirl" on top of the socket opening that is tucked into the thumb (not my favorite position for my finger as it goes numb quickly) and the other fingers wrap around the body of the socket.

However, ceremonial standards are for the USAF HG and BHGs. What authorizes AFROTC, AFJROTC, SFJROTC, and CAP? Just because someone says so? It would be good to have it in documentation at the AF level, not local, creating that authorization and how to set up a specialized team of the unit, with the unit performing the standard drill out of AFPAM 34-1203 and the team then using colors standards from AFI 34-515. That would cover the bases without anyone guessing or simply assuming. It would also require that ceremonial standards be met for colors.

Very few AFJROTC units perform firing party, but that's also in this line of thinking and when it's required, they can step right up. CAP would benefit from direct instruction from the AFI and not the very badly written CAP reg. Colors is the main driver for all four

I'm not averse to cadets learning and performing to ceremonial standards, those standards are light years better than regulation drill. Just a question to throw out there.

The color guard of the Port Authority Police of NY

The color guard of the Port Authority Police of NY & NJ. They don't *have*to have guards. They *should not* hold the colors at Right Shoulder/Carry. Why?

The Flag Code, their mandatory guidance, states the colors are carried aloft and free. If they choose to follow a military standard, all guidance states the right hand holds only the staff at mouth level, the left hand holds the staff at the socket (Army) or is at the side as when at Attention (everyone else).

ℹ️I understand *why* they are holding the flag material, it's to keep it out of their faces while marching. However, since that is not authorized and is inappropriate, how does someone march straight when the flag gets in your face and you cannot see a thing? Move the material with your left hand to the left and behind you. Do it as often as necessary and try to keep it at a minimum. It's not the best look but it's the safest way to deal with the issue and it will help you with alignment and spacing.

⭐⭐⭐The Warwick, NY honor guard in a recent parade! GREAT timing and alignment!

Slings are mounted too high through the stacking swivel, so that needs changing.

ℹ️First responder honor guards have no national standard that they are required to meet. Since they are not military, they have the Flag Code and that's it. If they CHOOSE, the team can follow TC 3-21.5 or MCO 5060.20. Both are fine and give enough information to do well, are only for regulation drill, and are incomplete. My book, The Honor Guard Manual fills in every detail required at the ceremonial level. This team follows much of my book.

Still, no one is required to follow all or some of what I've written but the book is a word of knowledge that is easy to reference.

It's simple and yet can seem quite difficult for some. It just takes time and practice. The ceremonial halt is always called on the left for consistency. The left is planted on the command of execution, the next right is planted and remains in place, the left slides into the right. The reason for the slide is to eliminate overlapping and feet, especially the cheaters (plates of steel on the inside of each heel).

And the hits keep coming! Why do I post this garbage? Awareness. We have a generation that does not understand that standards matter. We also have adults who are not training cadets to nor enforcing those standards and no one is held accountable.

When leadership utterly fails at the highest levels, we get a cadet populace unable to understand why someone would want to hold others accountable. This is why the personal attacks.

By the way, I was born in 1965. I'm not "like 55", I'm 59.

The skirt is an OPTIONAL uniform item. All three service manuals show the team in trousers, including the females. That's your reference for not being able to wear an authorized uniform item. Other authorized uniform items not authorized for colors is the lightweight jacket and the sweater.

Don't try to justify your inability to understand standards.

Can an all-female color guard all wear skirts? That's a good question. Still, the photos show everyone wearing trousers. One caveat I can see: there is an AJROTC unit in KY that has the drill teams and color guards wear historic Cavalry uniforms. The females cadets wear long skirts and capes. I can see *value* in this uniform/situation but only because of the histiricity.

This is just like the guards being armed with swords or sabers. Absolutely not authorized except for mounted teams and the historical Navy team aboard the Constitution.

Reason, logic, and standards. Feelings and a bad attitude need not reply.

No one has been held accountable publicly, that I'

No one has been held accountable publicly, that I'm aware of, until I created this account. I say "no one", but I know that certain team in each branch have had very high standards and have really let the guys have it after a poor performance. Some cadet units probably have done something similar.

Why hold accountable? When you put on a uniform a certain expectation of meeting standards and responsibilities comes with it. When you pick up a piece of equipment (flagstaff, rifle) you must meet even higher standards and responsibilities. If you don't like it, don't join our ranks. But while you are in our ranks, you will be held accountable for your actions.

The American flag stands for all of us in the USA. Current, deceased, and future citizens. It demands respect and honor at all times.

Leadership is the biggest influence on a team. Internal leadership, commander of the team, and external leadership, cadet program adults, instructors, and even military and first responder unit leadership.

When leadership fails, the performance fails, and the result is the team showing up here on my various social media accounts. It may seem that I'm "bashing" but that's because you've not been trained properly nor have you been told that you are in the wrong.

It's leadership.

A rolled flag!? Whatthe!??

When should we roll flags? There are two occasions, do you know?

1️⃣Some countries roll their flag when it is taken down in the evening.
2️⃣Flags can be rolled for long-term storage. Don't roll colors! Only roll flags, it keeps the flag from having excessive wrinkles and creases.

Standards don't matter after all, it's excuses and personal insults that can help you make your point.

HQ is not God. HQ is wrong consistently. Poor choices make for bad outcomes. If one does not meet standards in an optional uniform item, then one does not wear it.

Instructors have an important job that requires a wide knowledge. Meeting standards in uniform wear and D&C requires at least a fundamental knowledge. This is a leadership failure. However! Blaming me is much easier than taking responsibility.

❌Skirts are not authorized in a color guard form

❌Skirts are not authorized in a color guard formation. It's an optional uniform item. Trousers are the standard. The team is to look the same as much as possible. Heels also are not authorized. Low quarters only. ❌That skirt is MUCH too short! The hem must fall at the kneecap area, not mid-thigh.

❌If you are going to follow Army standards, which AFJROTC can, unfortunately, then not only are the guards to be at Right Shoulder, the bearers must hold the staff at the socket.

❌Are you marching with suspended a swing? Not authorized in regulation drill.
