He is a Fire Lieutenant and Paramedic with the Black Forest Fire Rescue and a Paramedic with American Medical Response Colorado Springs.
Cody has worked in the field of Emergency Medical Services for 15 years and in the American Fire Service for 12.
He is the founder (2019) and Commander of the Black Forest Fire Rescue Honor Guard and is a senior member with the American Medical Response Colorado Springs Paramedic Honor Guard where his passion and involvement for the honor guard began and has been with the AMR Honor Guard for almost 10 years.
Cody has participated in multiple honor guard events, including colors presentations and funerals, both locally and across the country to include ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He participates in joint color guard events for Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Rockies, and nearly every Denver Broncos home game and has even sung the National Anthem at one of the Denver Bronco opener home games of the season.
To elevate the standards and discipline of his Honor Guard to excellence, Cody began to fervently pursue his passion for honor guard distinction and ceremonial drill by diligently studying under the DrillMaster’s tutelage and publications. He received his first formal training and became a certified provisional United States Ceremonial Guardsman in early 2024. He is extremely proud of his Black Forest Honor Guard, especially their relentless passion to serve others, their strive for excellence, and their attention to detail.
Cody is very excited to further his knowledge and training and gain additional experience with the DrillMaster including additional training endorsements. His goals include using his knowledge to establish his own local honor guard training academy and become a judge for local honor guard competition.
