Nice BHG shack! We lovingly call a building that the BHG takes over a "shack".

When I was crosstraining from Reprographics Specialist in 1998 a locomotive engineer AFSC position was open at FE Warren. I considered it but went with Unit Education and Training Manager instead for my last seven years on active duty.

DVIDS, you wrote they went through "indoctrination". That's not exactly what Airmen go through to learn how to render honors. It's more like intense training. Again, you're writing bad copy.

Many think that once the ceremony begins, no one should step into a position that isn't ultra #ceremonialer but that is merely a personal perception that does not have a basis in reality. In reality, we make sure everyone is fully trained in their duties and we make plans for "just in case" scenarios.

This photo was recently shared on an Air Force Facebook group. The admin who posted it is completely against open ranks inspections because it's a "waste of time".

The USAF has done some idiotic things that have wasted Airmens' time and billions of tax dollars. Getting back to the true culture of the US military isn't one of those things. Standards begin with the little things.

⭐⭐⭐⭐Kudos to this squadron. You are maintaining standards and that's the right thing to do.

This is beyond beneficial, just like drill and ceremonies. It's just that some want to be in the service and do their own thing.

If we cannot be trusted to do something seemingly so insignificant as maintain the service dress uniform, how on earth can we be trusted with taking care of people or millions of dollars worth of equipment?

Another critique from the California Midway Drill Meet! By the way, I'll be teaching in California in May.

Chaparral NJROTC armed exhibition. Some great moments but inconsistent. These recent critiques show me that knowledge of exhibition sequence design is lacking.

A disjointed routine, one that awkward transitions, or a performance that moves drastically from beginning level to advanced level and back to beginning level is a clear indication that I need to emphasize my articles that explain these very necessary details.

"Up. Face. Step." Casket carry is unique. Being a member of the #pallbearers #bodybearers or #casketbearers is a privilege not many can handle. Caskets are heavy. People are heavy. Put the two together, carry them while marching with an expressionless look on your face, and maneuver from the coach, around obstacles in the cemetery, and thrn over the grave requires an incredible amount of training.

Afyer all that is finished, it's time for the 2-, 3-, 6-, or even 8-man flag fold and presentation.

The 8th and I Silent Drill Team of 1965! The pioneers of the 8th & I Silent Drill Team, later to become the US Marine Corps silentdrillplatoon - even better, this is the year I was born! OK, the SDT footage is better.

The SDT back then developed the framework of the routine seen today. There are still parts of the routine that harken back to the history of the team. Much has been learned over the years, movements refined, drill better written, and entertainment value added.

How to not show respect, honor, and class - bring your service departmental color to the protest. 👉I do understand WHY this man brought the flag. I get it. However.

ℹ️During my 20 years in the USAF, we heard plenty about not going to any political event in uniform to ensure that perceptions could not exist that could have anyone think that a service was being represented at the event.

This is the same thing, even if he's a retiree or veteran. The rules still apply. Even a veteran service organization recently posted information about members not wearing the garrison cap of the org to any event like this.

Perceptions matter greatly.

DVIDS: The color guard parades the colors during the 2025 Seabee ball hosted by Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVAFC) Europe, Africa, Central (EURAFCENT), in Passo di Mirabella, Italy, March 8, 2025.

👉This is on purpose because either someone somewhere at some point remembered something about the national being higher and that means harness sockets must be adjusted to reflect that thinking. 👉Or, the team and leadership read the colors section of MCO 5060.20, guidance on finials in NTP 13B, and foreign national colors info in DoD Instruction 5410.19 Vol 4 and completely ignored every standard listed.

❌The national is ALWAYS on the right of all colors. ❌Harness sockets are adjusted to be as close as possible to the same level. ❌Carrying the Italian color is not authorized unless an IT government representative authorized honors will take part in the ceremony. You can *display* it all the time, just not carry it. ❌Guards must be at the outboard shoulder when staffs are at Carry. ❌Slings are threaded through the #StackingSwivel ❌When marching in place, feet face forward and not at a 45. Toes come up 2" & heels 4". Let the feet hang naturally.

⭐Good spacing. ⭐Decent timing.

The Armed/Unarmed Cordon ranges from 11 to 21 members with the commander being the odd member. The number is set for the gun salute the individual receives

ℹ️Here, this is a sword cordon for a CMSgt induction ceremony. It is limited to six members with the commander being one of the members. 🫨

ℹ️The #Sideboy cordon is purely a Navy (and Coast Guard) thing. The minimum number of Sideboys is two with a maximum of eight. This type of cordon is the only one that is added to when necessary. For instance, a LT comes aboard for a ceremony and receives two Sideboys. When someone of higher rank comes aboard, more Sideboys are added right after each receives bells and is piped.

When I first began my online critiques and educational posts, I saw this just about daily. Now, I see this technique less often and I am very glad that thousands of adults and cadets have been able to learn and apply what I have provided.

What we see here: the guards are in the process of adjusting their slings for Sling Arms. ❌Guards do not step out. ❌Do not place the buttstock on the upper thigh. ❌Do not be at the waist. ❌Do not have the rifle sling-up. ❌Do not lean forward. ❌Do not adjust the sling with the right and hold the rifle with the left. ❌Do not look down with the head.

❌(You can't see it in this image) The US is ALWAYS on the marching right.

ℹ️Stand at Attention. ℹ️Place the buttstock on the HIP with the sling facing to the left. ℹ️Cradle the rifle in the right arm and adjust the sling with the left. ℹ️Create a synchronous sequence for both guards to follow.
