I don’t understand the reasoning behind the current competition procedure. When will a team see this type of setup in an actual ceremony? Why not make each phase of a competition relevant? The other phases (flag fold, casket watch) mimic the same conditions required during the actual ceremonies. The following illustration shows how color teams typically post/present the colors. This is what we should see at all honor guard competitions:
