Sent in by a follower! This picture might be a couple of years old. 👉"Cadet shaming". Why are pictures of cadets not following standards freely plastered all across the internet but when anyone raises their eyebrow at it, the one with the raised eyebrow is vilified? I'll tell you why. Because all of us have an ego. Some of us are able to control it, take criticism, and grow. Others are fragile (even adults) and cannot handle being told they are doing something wrong. 🔹Those fragile individuals eventually move into leadership positions and start forcing their skewed view onto everyone else even resorting to coercion. They are completely intolerant of intolerance while screaming that everyone should be tolerant. What that means is, you understand standards, you are intolerant of disrespectful colors displays such as this one pictured and therefore are the worst kind of human being. After all, #ThEyREjusTchILdreN and they are #SeRvInGTheIrCoMmuNiTy - apparently, that means standards apply to others, not to the ones in the picture. 👉Critique in the comments below.

In the US military, there are very specific #FlagstaffFinials that are authorized for each service's color guard. The eagle isn't one. 👉The first slide shows the Civil War era spear finial. It was a Confederate States of America standard. This is where today's piece of junk plastic spears come from. The spear is not authorized. At all. Ever. 👉The second slide shows what is authorized and has another Civil War era finial, the spade, which was probably used by the North before and during the "War of Northern Aggression" 🙂. ⭐When we understand our history we can learn from it. .

Sent in by a follower! This picture of a CAP color guard shows evidence of improper education and training. How can I tell? ❌Wrong equipment and techniques. If the trainers had read their manuals to understand how to approach equiping and training the cadets, there wouldn't have been any problems. 👉Education in the standards is your first step, training to those standards comes next, practicing to those standards is after that, and constantly reviewing standards and performance and revisiting training is the cycle. 👉Critique: ❌NEVER push a flagstaff forward at Parade Rest. ❌Wrong staffs and finials. I know what CAP Reg 900-2 says, but the USAF trumps CAP regs. The eagle finial is not authorized except for the president and vp. ❌Staffs are too short. ❌Right hand hold on the rifles is inconsistent and incorrect. ❌No fringe on US.

Too bad the Sea Cadets are using improper equipment and bad techniques. ❌Wrong staffs and finials. ❌Fringe on the National. ❌Right rifle guard left hand flared. ❌Alignment and spacing are inconsistent. ❌Color bearers have reversed grips, palm-out. Only the right hand on the staff and left hand at the side.

Sent in by Taylorsville High School AJROTC for a critique! ⭐Initially impressive. There some slight details: ❌Right rifle guard: wrap that left thumb. Right-hand fingers under the sling and fingers together. ❌Feet are inconsistent. ❌Left rifle guard: left hand is too high on the hand guard. It should be at the same level as when holding the rifle at Port. ❌You must have the Army or AJROTC flag. You can add the state. 🌟Well done color bearers for adjusting harness sockets so that the colors are as close as possible to the same level!! [Insert fireworks emoji.] 👉A cadet color guard supporting their community and following standards - it CAN BE DONE!

This is the Whiteman AFBHG. Let's see how many ❌s show up. ⭐Chinstraps and not #ThroatStraps ⭐Proper flags with fringe and in proper order. ⭐Flat spades. ⭐All 4 hands properly positioned on the rifles with 4 wrapped thumbs. ⭐45-degree dip of USAF color for Present. This is called #AnglePort and is the Present position from the color bearer's Port position. ⭐Excellent Port position for the NCT. ⭐Harnesses worn even though not used. You can see a socket through the left guard's sling. ⭐Properly mounted slings. ⭐Belts. ❓Left guard might need to ground his silver chinstrap to the bill, I'm not sure. 👉Well whaddya know? Colors can be presented properly while adhering to service standards. Huh. 🙂🙂🙂Well done, team! Way to set the example! Way to follow written standards and set high performance standards! .

OK, so this great honor befalls cadets. ❌Fringe on the National. ❌A third flag. ❌❌Fake fixed bayonets!? Are you serious? MCO 5060.2 CLEARLY states guards will not fix bayonets. Screen shot sent in by a follower! A public discussion between two CAP senior members. This is why CAP color guards have such horrible performances. When you don't understand why the standards are there, then you won't educate yourself and those you train. If "Supporting the community" is good enough, why are there any manuals at all? Why train? Why practice? 👉When you teach cadets that standards don't matter, which is EXACTLY what this statement shows, they won't learn that standards exist EVERYWHERE.

This always bears repeating: ⭐When you put on a uniform, you incur a certain amount of responsibility and certain standards must be met. When in that uniform and you pick up a piece of equipment, even more responsibility and higher standards come your way. You will be held accountable eventually. Don't like it? Don't do it.

Questions sent in about the post from the @usafband and the color guard at the football game. (You know the DoD pays the NFL to do this, right?) 👉The team is made up, in many of these cases, by local recruiters. So, it comes down to who is trained and able to take command of the team? Another factor is local manning - in this case, are there enough Soldiers to man the first three positions? The answer to both of these questions is evident in the picture. ❌You can also tell that the colors were on display in an office somewhere (unauthorized cord and tassels) and grabbed for the team, which isn't appropriate due to ❌Wrong staffs and finials. 👉The Marines probably brought in the M14s (no one else uses leather slings as much as the MC). ❌Right rifle guard is executing the wrong Present - come on, Airman, when is that ever authorized - never. 👉Full joint service means following Army standards. .

👉The only thing that is correct about the team is the order of the flags. ❓Why are there two extra guards? The two extra are not authorized, no reasoning explains them. ❓Where are the rifles? They're mandatory. ❓Where are the colors harnesses? Those are also mandatory. There are several more ❌ The team really should have their heels on the back edge of the carpet to execute #EveryLeftOff .

Sent in by a follower! The Marine Corps League does great stuff! But, they don't follow their service's Orders for color guard. Why? ❌Fringe on the National. ❌Wrong staffs and finials. ❌Colors are not gathered under the right arm while at Order. 👉Those are the worst, cheapest, garbage harnesses on the market. They are all-webbing, even the socket.
